About the Community of AnokaAnoka is a well-developed city situated at the confluence of the Rum and Mississippi rivers in the south-west pocket of Anoka County. A thriving business and residential community, Anoka still maintains much of its small-town charm through old Victorian houses and antique shops. Frequently referred to as the Halloween Capital of the World because of its celebrated Halloween parade and events, Anoka covers approximately 7 square miles and is located 20 miles north-west of Minneapolis. Today, more than 600 businesses are located in the community, ranging from small in-home offices to major international corporations. Anoka has operated its own electric utility since 1909.
