About the Community of Apple Valley
Apple Valley is located about 20 minutes south of downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul and 15 minutes south of the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport or the Mall of America. Cedar Avenue runs through the heart of Apple Valley, linking with Interstate 35E and Interstate 494.
Apple Valley is a great place to live, work and play. The City's comprehensive plan has helped create a pleasant, efficiently designed community with quality neighborhoods, a clearly defined suburban version of a central business district and industrial areas, and well located recreational opportunities, including the Minnesota Zoo. An extensive parks and recreation system includes over 790 acres of park land, sports arenas, athletic complexes, community centers, teen center, senior center, aquatic center, and municipal golf course.

There are 48 park locations and 790 acres of land within the City of Apple Valley. There is over 60 miles of Pristine trails in the area.
Apple Valley is home to the Minnesota Zoo, ranked among the nation's best year-round zoos. The zoo hosts over 2,700 creatures living in natural habitat exhibits. The Zoo features Discovery Bay, with a 500,000 gallon dolphin pool and 200,000 gallon shark tank.
Apple Valley is also home of Lebanon Hills Wilderness Park which offers miles of trails for hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. There are also many lakes to canoe.
