About the Community of Crystal

Downtown Minneapolis is less than 15 minutes away from this first-ring northwestern suburb. Brookdale and Ridgedale, two of the metro area's largest shopping centers, are easily accessed from Crystal. Known for its close-knit neighborhoods and strong civic organizations, Crystal also boasts 23 parks, with Becker Park as the centerpiece. Becker is the site of dozens of events throughout the summer, including outdoor concerts and shows at its Arts and Entertainment Center. Crystal Airport is on of the metro area's largest regional airports. Crystal Parks & Recreation

Park and Facilities:
There are 242.5 acres of parks located within the City of Crystal for your enjoyment--have a picnic, reserve a field for practice or games, play at your local park, or enjoy a walk through the park. Amenities:
Our amenities include the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center, Community Center, parks & trails, variety of programs and services for all ages, well-groomed sports fields, and the redeveloped Crystal Shopping Center.

Community Center:
The Crystal Community Center is a place where people can enjoy themselves through recreational activity and social interaction. The Recreation Department offers many programs here. It is also the home of the Crystal Friendship Center for seniors. The rooms and gymnasiums can be rented by individuals and groups.

Events:
Bike Rodeo in May, Crystal Children's Theatre Performance held in mid-July at the Crystal Community Center. Wet and Wild Water Fun Day in early August at Lions Valley Place Park features a giant water slide and lots of sprinkler fun. Annual Kids Garage Sale which is held the third Saturday in September. Barnyard Boogie for parents and children 7 years old and younger is held the first Friday in October. Monster Mash Dance for grades 5, 6, and 7 is held the Friday before Halloween. Halloween Spooktacular for ages 4-10 is held the Saturday before Halloween.
Winterfest (a family event) is usually held on the first Saturday in December. Senior Holiday Luncheon is held during the week in December. Senior Holiday Band Concert is held on a Thursday evening in December. Little Sweetheart Dance for children ages 2-7 and a parent at the Crystal Community Center on the second Friday in February.
