About the Community of Mounds View
The city of Mounds View was located in the former Mounds View Township, which included parts of present-day Shoreview, Arden Hills, and Spring Lake Park. In 1958, 100 years after Minnesota's ascension to statehood, the village of Mounds View was incorporated. Post World War II growth was partially fueled by the proximity of the Twin Cities Arsenal. Today, Mounds View is primarily known for the Mermaid Bowling Alley, Wynnsong Movie Theater, large, wooded residential lots, and the excellence of the Mounds View School District (which includes nearby New Brighton, Shoreview, Arden Hills, and North Oaks). Mounds View's annual parade is Festival In the Park, held in August.
Mounds View Parks & Recreation
There are eleven parks in Mounds View with a full complement of activities. From passive to active, the parks provide greenspace, natural areas, scenery and a variety of amenities for our residents.
Located in the Mounds View Community Center, the YMCA manages and administers the City's recreation activites and schedules functions in the City's parks.
